Gerard Cosmetics Hydramatte Liquid Lipsticks | Review
7:46 AM
I've had these little beauties for quite a while, I just haven't had the time to sit down and write an honest, in depth review on them.
But I finally have the time, because I've been trying to get ahead with everything!
With the biggest makeup trend being liquid lipsticks, I was so excited when Gerard Cosmetics announced that they were releasing their own version. I was even more excited about the collaboration with Manny, creating the color Serenity.
GC's Hydramatte Lipsticks smell amazing. They're very liquidly but apply beautifully with the doe foot applicator. Since these claim to hydrate as well as stay matte all day, they take a little bit longer to dry on your lips and become tacky until fully matte.
Aphrodite, Serenity, Mercury Rising |
Unfortunately, I lost the swatch picture I had, but you can find a ton of them online. My favorite swatches come from @dupethat over on Instagram.
Aphrodite - A peachy nude shade very similar to GC's Nude lipstick and lipgloss. Definitely more of a warmer shade and looks great with a dramatic eye.
Serenity - Manny MUA's warm-brown pink shade. Beautiful pinky-nude shade for all skin tones. Best for an everyday shade with winged liner or big lashes.
Mercury Rising - An orange-red that was great for summer. This shade is super bright. To make it wearable for the fall, mix it with a darker shade. I recommend Cherry Cordial by GC.
There's been a lot of debate about whether these liquid lipsticks are transfer proof or not. I find them to be extremely transfer proof. I tested these out by wearing them through twelve hour shifts at my summer job. I didn't touch up and I had at least one meal throughout my shifts and drank in between. I found them to wear slightly in the middle of my lips but it wasn't anything noticeable unless you really looked at it.
These retail for $20 on gerardcosmetics.com. However, like I always tell you guys, there are always coupon codes circling Instagram and YouTube. Here are some codes featured on the app:
- 40% off regular priced items plus free worldwide shipping: RICKYS
- 35% off all regular priced items plus free worldwide shipping: GCSAVE
There are also bundles on their website to buy package deals of their makeup.
My only complaint? Make some more colors! I love these and find them to be a staple since I've received them. I hope that they'll trickle out with some more colors during the fall season.
