High School Nostalgia ... That Almost Never Happens | August Playlist
9:05 AM
I got really nostalgic for high school this past month. I don't know why. It never happens. I guess it was because I found my senior yearbook and I was reading through all of the signatures. I didn't particularly enjoy high school, but music was a huge part of those four years of my life. I discovered all kinds of different music then.
I remember the summer before freshman year I attended Warped Tour for the first time, and it was the first time I saw A Day to Remember live. From then on I basically listened to them on a regular basis.
All of these songs remind me of high school.
I don't know a single person who wouldn't be able to relate to ADTR lyrics. No matter what kind of genre you listen to, these lyrics speak to everyone. It's one of the reasons why the band has gotten so popular. They've got catchy songs and lyrics that speak directly to your soul.
The Downfall of Us All starts with 'Let's go!' and anytime that phrase was shouted during pep rallies or football games or even at lunch, I would start humming the song to myself. I know that's not really where it comes from, but I just always associated those words to that song. I still do.
Homesick relates better to transitioning from high school to college. Everything about me seemed so much different when I was young / I couldn't wait to take my place. I sincerely apologize to everyone who knew me in high school. I am such a different person and I've grown up. I'm definitely not the same person. Sorry for being such a little shit.
If you've ever felt bad about your love life, Have Faith in Me was your song. I will listen to this song on a good day, just because it's that good. You'll scream it while driving down the highway.
They have the best music videos too. I'm Made of Wax Larry is on here because of the music video that accompanies it. It's a dodgeball came, which screams high school, and it's the band against these little kids. It's one of the funniest music videos I've seen, and it makes me laugh and love the band even more.
I need constant reminders of everything / So what? / It's who I am
- It's Complicated
Don't get me started on what it means to be alive / You're lying to yourself and yet still you act surprised / Cause you're scared and can't come to terms with what you are / The wolves in sheep's clothing will only lead you so far / You'll wait and they'll go cause in the end we all end up alone so just wait you'll know
- This Is The House That Doubt Built
Really, ADTR just has the catchiest, best lyrics and they just stick in your head.
